Beachside State Recreation Site US Hwy 101, 4 miles South of Waldport
Beachside — need we say more? This location on the central coast is ideal for dipping your toes in the sandy beach and flying kites. Every camp site is only seconds from the beach so if you’re looking for an idyllic beachside camp experience this is it.

Beverly Beach State Park US Hwy 101, 7 miles North of Newport
Just a hop skip and a jump away from the sand is the forest-sheltered camp grounds. There’s a children’s playground, grassy tree-lined picnic grounds and a visitor’s information center.

Cape Lookout State Park Off US Hwy 101, 12 miles Southwest of Tillamook
Located an hour and a half West of Portland, this camp site is so fun to get to. Enjoy scenic views, waterfalls and fishing holes as you head to Cape Lookout. There are over eight miles of hiking and walking trails for your little campers to explore.

A Beach Getaway That’s Only An Hour Away
Where To Stay
The rooms at McMenamin’s Gearhart Hotel are cozy and comfortable but fairly basic. The place does have it’s benefits. Each room is equipped with a quart jar so you can grab some of their craft brewed beer from downstairs and enjoy it in your room. With live music every friday and a full restaurant with outdoor seating in nice weather, you can catch breakfast, lunch, or dinner without leaving the hotel. For larger broods, the Gearhart Ocean Inn has one and two-bedroom suites with full kitchens. There are also many fine offerings for rental houses and condos on VRBO all close to the beach.

Family-friendly attractions can be found throughout but there’s an entire ‘island’ dedicated to kiddos. Scupper Monkey Island, at the entrance of the festival, fills the historic Columbia County Courthouse square with kid facing fun. But don’t stop there.
