Once a month, we give away a free haircut to one of our Facebook fans. It’s easy to participate and win: “Like” our page (Pigtails & Crewcuts – Katy) and follow our posts. Respond to our monthly post giving away a FREE haircut. We will select a winner at random and announce the winner on our Facebook page.

For every regular price haircut purchased in October through November, your school will receive 5% back.  All you have to do is tell what school should receive the proceeds when you sign in. 

Want to earn even more money for your school? Pigtails & Crewcuts – Katy will match 50% of the proceeds earned for the school with the most votes on our Facebook Page.

That’s it.  It’s that easy!

Want to save a little extra money this month? During the month of September, if you “check-in” on Facebook while in the salon, you will get $1 off your haircut. Don’t have a mobile device? Ask a stylist how you can still “check-in” and claim the deal.

Our goal for the Local Model Search was to celebrate our first anniversary by showcasing the beautiful children in our area. We wanted a fun and interactive experience to determine our winners without bias from Pigtails & Crewcuts – Katy. We decided Facebook was the best medium to do just that.

In order to host a photo contest on Facebook, Pages such as our must follow strict rules. One of the rules Facebook requires is that we use a third party application to host the contest. After much research, we decided to use Offerpop as our third party application. Offerpop had great reviews and is also used by companies such as American Express, Sears and The Four Seasons.

In organizing our contest, we originally set it up so that our users would not be required to share their Facebook information with Offerpop. In doing this, our third party application verified each vote using the voter’s IP address. This resulted in several complaints that people could vote multiple times. Pigtails & Crewcuts – Katy audited the votes received for each of the pictures and confirmed that unique IP addresses were used. We could not confirm any voter fraud based on IP address. However, we heard your concerns and contacted Offerpop on better ways to administer the contest.

Pigtails & Crewcuts – Katy was advised and quickly switched to “secure voting”. This required our users to share their Facebook information with Offerpop but also allowed us to audit votes based on Facebook users as opposed to IP addresses. After switching, we received positive feedback and, again, audited votes to ensure there is no voter fraud.

Recently, we have received more concerns regarding issues related to voting. At this time, our best advice is to contact Offerpop regarding your voting issues. When voting, there is a link to report a voting problem.  We, of course, also want to know about your experience and can also follow up with our third party application host. However, please be advised that Pigtails & Crewcuts does not have technical insight into the issues surrounding voting and are limited to the abilities and capabilities of our third party application host.

Because of these issues, Pigtails & Crewcuts – Katy determined to add a “random” winner to our contest. This winner will be selected at random using “random.org” and will not be based on the number of votes. We also plan on providing ALL of our contestants with a special reward for participating in the contest. More details on this reward will be announced at the end of the contest.

We have been extremely excited to see such a large interest in our Model Search and love seeing all of our local cuties featured on our Page! We had really hoped for a fun experience and are disappointed that this has not gone as smoothly as we had planned. However, we will continue to do what we can to resolve these issues and will be facilitating this contest differently should we choose to do it again next year. Pigtails & Crewcuts loves Katy’s cuties and appreciate your support through the remainder of the contest.
