Being in the hair business, we’re pretty in-the-know about all things related to pigtails, crewcuts and everything in between. That didn’t lessen the surprise, however, when we decided to do a little research on hair-related world records. People are taking the hair-care business to the extreme!
A quick glimpse at Guinness Book of World Records’ website, and you’ll learn the record for the most haircuts given in 24 hours (526); the most people with spray-painted hair (5,274); the largest hairy family (you’ll have to read that one, yourself) and the list goes on.
Inspired by what we saw, we’re already brainstorming what record we should try and set or break. Any challenges out there from our friends and fans?

Fastest haircut: 49.76 seconds
Most hair donated to charity in 24 hours: 107.4 pounds
Longest head hair (female): 18 feet 5.54 inches
Hairiest car: 264 pounds 8.87 ounces covering a Fiat 500
Largest afro: 7.3 inches high, 7.7 inches wide and 4 feet 4 inches in circumference
Largest ball of human hair: 167 pounds, 4 feet high with a 14-foot circumference
Highest insured hair: Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers (and a spokesman for a shampoo brand) insured his hair for $1 million. On another hair note, according to Guinness, Tom Jones insured his chest hair for $7 million.
Most heads shaved in four hours: 662 by a team of five.
Longest hair extension: 2,692 feet 3 inches
