At a loss for this year’s costume? If you’re not in the mood for Elsas and minions, and you don’t have time to create a costume from scratch, start with the hair. Sometimes, a little bit of style can go a long way.
Here are our quick-fix ideas to get a leg up (perhaps literally!) on your costume.
Spider style. With a few pipe cleaners and some felt, you can make an adorable hair bun that looks like a spider. We fell in love with this style when we came across it on the “Simple as That” blog. Check out the instructions here.
Flower power. A few floral accents make a beautiful statement. Create a flower crown, braid full flowers in with the hair or simply tuck a flower behind the ear to make a beautiful impression.
Bet on Etsy. Enter “Halloween hair” into Etsy.com and prepare to lose track of time. There are hundreds of eye-catching options, including skeleton hand hair clips, eyeball hair ties, ghost ribbon sculptures, candy corn clips and so much more.
Wig it. We know, we know, we’re in the kids hair business and we love styling and braiding hair. But we also know kids, and sometimes, a wig is a far bigger treat than a new braid. Grab one that your child likes, whether it’s brunette or fuchsia, long or short, crocheted or plastic, and the rest of the costume will quickly reveal itself!
